Recovery Coach • Betrayal Trauma Specialist • Author
Angie Doel, M.S., is a betrayal trauma specialist, recovery & relationship coach, published author, and founder of Rebuilding Relationships. But long before she became a professional guide for others, she sat where many of her clients sit today.
As the betrayed wife of a husband struggling with multiple addictions, Angie experienced firsthand the devastation of chronic deception, financial betrayal, broken trust, and the profound disorientation that accompanies relationship trauma. Like many betrayed partners, she sought professional help, only to be told by a traditional marriage therapist that the solution was simply to give her husband more attention in the bedroom. (This was nearly two decades ago, before we knew better!). Her experiences became a turning point.
Angie was inadvertently handed responsibility for problems she didn't create. Confusion, self-doubt, and isolation fueled her lifelong commitment to understanding betrayal trauma, relational recovery, and the impact that deception has on the brain, body, and sense of self.
Today, Angie combines her personal experiences with more than 30 years of professional work in psychology, counseling, wellness, coaching, and relationship recovery. She specializes in helping betrayed partners, couples, and families heal from infidelity, compulsive sexual behavior, sexual addiction, chronic deception, integrity abuse, and relational trauma. Through education, structured recovery frameworks, practical tools, and compassionate support, she helps clients move from confusion to clarity, from survival to stability, and ultimately toward reclaiming their voice, boundaries, and self-trust.
Her passion & mission are simple: to ensure that no betrayed partner walks this journey alone.
Specialization
Angie specializes in working with betrayed partners whose nervous systems, identities, and sense of reality have been impacted by betrayal trauma. Her work is grounded in APSATS-aligned betrayal trauma models, integrating evidence-based approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), attachment-based treatment, somatic modalities, mindfulness, and trauma-informed neuroscience. Unlike approaches that pathologize betrayed partners or minimize the impact of infidelity,
Angie's work focuses on one core truth: your reaction isn't the problem—the betrayal is. What you're experiencing is a normal response to relational trauma, not evidence that something is wrong with you! She will help you understand what's happening in your body and mind, stabilize your nervous system, and rebuild trust in yourself before making any long-term decision about the relationship.
